It is yet again another cloudy, dreary day across the Inland Northwest, but we have another chance to break out from underneath the clouds starting tonight.

The ongoing period of quiet weather continues for the Inland Northwest under strong high pressure. Frigid Arctic air will attempt to push across the Rocky Mountains in Montana this evening, bringing drier air and northerly winds to the Inland Northwest. That should finally clear out the stratus clouds enveloping the area. Until then, the weather remains the same as it has for the past eight days: cloudy with little change in temperatures.
What We’re Tracking
Expect at least a little sunshine by Friday afternoon for most of Eastern Washington and North Idaho as the dry air settles in. Northerly winds will pick up to 10-15 mph with gusts up to 20-25 mph across the valleys in the morning. Overnight lows Friday will see efficient cooling with the dry, Arctic-influenced airmass, resulting in widespread readings in the teens over the weekend. The cold sunshine won’t last forever as a warming trend brings in more morning cloud coverage next week. Precipitation looks unlikely until at least the middle of next week.
