SPOKANE, WA – Today, our community is joining a nationwide movement with a new twist on the Women’s March. Instead of marching, communities across the country are holding a Walk Out, stepping away from work, school, and home to make their voices heard.
The Spokane Walk Out kicks off this afternoon. Participants are asked to leave their workplaces and schools at 2:00 PM and gather from 3:00–4:30 PM at the office of U.S. Representative Michael Baumgartner, located at 528 E Spokane Falls Blvd #115.
Organizers encourage attendees to bring signs reflecting their concerns, hopes, or the changes they want to see in the community. For those who need one, the local group Spokane Indivisible will provide about 50 signs on site.
The Walk Out is a peaceful demonstration, and Representative Baumgartner will be in Washington, D.C., and will not attend.
The event is a collaborative effort between Spokane Indivisible, Spokane Visibility Brigade, and Mikey Monday, aiming to energize the Spokane community and show public concern over both local and national issues.
This Walk Out is part of a larger national movement encouraging people to speak out on issues affecting women, communities, and government accountability.
