SPOKANE, Wash. — Soccer fans across the Inland Northwest will watch two of the region’s top professional clubs compete at One Spokane Stadium this spring, as both the Seattle Sounders and Seattle Reign announced matches at the venue.
The Sounders will bring their CONCACAF Champions Cup Round of 16 match to Spokane on March 18, while the Reign will play three games at the venue throughout the spring season.
“Even to see it in Seattle would be a big deal. So it’s hard to think of how these teams being here, that Champions League game is going to be but it’s going to be awesome,” said Jonathan Ehrenberg, president of The 509 Syndicate, a local soccer supporters group.
Local fans view the events as an opportunity to showcase the city’s soccer culture as Spokane prepares to host events related to the 2026 World Cup.
“I think it’s also not just about the three games. This is pushing soccer further, it’s putting us on the map as a soccer city and I think having these clubs here will help initiate long term growth of the game in the City of Spokane,” Ehrenberg said.
The Spokane Public Facilities District said it had events like these in mind when planning the stadium’s construction. Officials indicated there’s a possibility the Sounders could play a second CONCACAF Champions Cup match in Spokane while Seattle hosts World Cup events.
The Sounders compete in Major League Soccer and have won two MLS Cup championships, while the Reign play in the National Women’s Soccer League and have captured two NWSL championships.
Ticket information and additional match details are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
