WALLACE, Idaho — UPDATE, 6:42 p.m.
Two civilians and one deputy were injured in a shooting at the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office on Friday afternoon.
According to the Shoshone County Sheriff, the shooter fired at a car and hit two women inside. Both were shot in the leg and have ‘minor injuries.’ Investigators say the suspect then entered the Sheriff’s Office lobby around 2:30 p.m. on Friday and began shooting.
A deputy was ‘nicked in the ear’ and has minor injuries.
Multiple law enforcement agencies responded. The shooter and law enforcement were shooting at each other until the suspect was shot and killed around 4:15 p.m.
The sheriff’s office says the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office and Coeur d’Alene Police Department are handing the criminal investigation while Idaho State Police is handling the officer-involved shooting investigation.
No more information about the shooter has been released at this time.
UPDATE, 5:36 p.m.
The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office says the suspected shooter at the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office has been “neutralized.”
Law enforcement says there is no ongoing danger to the community, but the public is still asked to avoid the area due to the ongoing investigation.
The Shoshone County Sheriff and Kootenai County Sheriff will hold a press conference at 6:30 p.m. at the Wallace Inn. More details will be provided at that time.

Law enforcement is responding to reports of a shooting at the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office in Wallace, Idaho.
The neighboring Mineral County Sheriff’s Office says the reports of an active shooter are accurate and it is sending reinforcements to help.
Law enforcement is asking people to avoid downtown Wallace if possible.
