SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — Spokane Valley deputies arrested a 64-year-old man Monday after he threatened a hotel employee with a knife.
At approximately 11:30 a.m. on December 8, deputies responded to the Ramada on North Sullivan Road after reports of an armed person.
During check-in, the suspect pulled out a folding pocketknife and waved it at the employee while saying, “Look what can I do if you don’t check me in,” according to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.
The victim told deputies the man’s behavior was “very scary.” A woman with the suspect said he had been discharged from a care facility for being too dangerous.
The suspect left before deputies arrived. Staff deactivated his room key.
At 1:05 p.m., he returned and behaved erratically. The employee locked herself in the office as the suspect entered restricted areas and pounded on the office door.
Deputies arrested him without incident and found a folding knife in his pocket.
He was booked into Spokane County Jail on charges of brandishing a weapon, harassment and criminal trespass.
No one was injured.
Authorities are not releasing his name due to mental health concerns.
