SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — Spokane Valley deputies arrested a theft suspect who caused more than $7,000 in damage to a business air conditioning unit, according to the Spokane Valley Sheriff’s Office.
Joshua M. Myers, 37, was arrested Dec. 6 after deputies used Automated License Plate Reader technology to track him down, the sheriff’s office said.
Deputies responded Dec. 5 to a theft call at a business near the intersection of East Valleyway Avenue and North Argonne Road. Someone had torn apart an exterior air conditioner and stolen its internal parts between Dec. 4-5, according to the sheriff’s office.
Witnesses saw Myers arrive in a cream-colored Cadillac during late evening hours Dec. 5, tear apart the air conditioning unit, and carry the parts back to his vehicle, the sheriff’s office said. A local recycler confirmed Myers had scrapped the parts and provided his identification to deputies.
Deputies entered the Cadillac’s license plate into the Automated License Plate Reader system. On Dec. 6, an ALPR alert led deputies to Myers’ address, where he was arrested at 2:30 p.m., according to the sheriff’s office.
Myers initially denied the theft but later admitted to selling the parts to the recycler, the sheriff’s office said.
Myers was booked into Spokane County Jail on charges of first-degree malicious mischief and first-degree trafficking stolen property.
His bond was set at $2,500.
This marks his fifth booking into Spokane County Jail since 2024, according to jail records.
