SPOKANE, Wash. — The Spokane Public Schools Board of Directors has been named the 2025 Large District Board of the Year by the Washington State School Directors’ Association.
This is in recognition of the board’s commitment to vision-driven, equity-centered leadership that delivers results for students.
The Washington State School Directors’ Association says the board has worked to increase Native student graduation and attendance rates at its schools. Academic growth in middle school English Language Arts also surged more than 200% for the demographic.
“By grounding decisions in data, authentic collaboration, and cultural understanding, the SPS Board modeled how leadership rooted in belonging and identity can drive academic excellence,” The Washington State School Directors’ Association said.
