SPOKANE, Wash. — Gonzaga men’s basketball head coach Mark Few announced the signing of German guard Jack Kayil, adding international talent to what ESPN considers a Top-15 recruiting class, according to the university.
The 6-foot-5, 195-pound guard from Berlin helped Germany capture a silver medal at the FIBA U-19 World Cup, averaging 11.1 points and 6.6 assists per game, according to tournament statistics. In the gold-medal game against Team USA, he recorded 13 points and five assists.
Both ESPN and 247Sports rate Kayil as a four-star recruit. This season, he will play for Alba Berlin in Germany’s Bundesliga, according to the university announcement.
Last season with KK Mega Basket in Belgrade, Serbia, Kayil averaged 7.7 points per game in the ABA League, according to league statistics. He shot 39.8 percent from the field, 35.4 percent from three-point range and 88.2 percent from the free-throw line.
Kayil will enter the program as a freshman.
