SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga women’s basketball couldn’t hold onto an early lead, falling 65-52 to an unbeaten Stanford team at the McCarthey Athletic Center.
The Bulldogs came out fast, knocking down shots early and building a strong first quarter cushion. Stanford gradually chipped away in the second quarter, but Gonzaga still held the edge and led 33-31 at halftime.
Out of the locker room, Standford took control while Gonzaga battled to stay within striking distance. The Cardinals closed it out from there, Allie Turner added a late basket for the Zags, but Stanford sealed the win in the final seconds.
