Regence BlueShield dropping Kootenai Health from network unless new agreement reached

COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — People insured by Regence BlueShield should expect higher costs if they go to Kootenai Health and Kootenai Clinic next year.

The insurer announced it did not reach an agreement with the healthcare group and Kootenai Health will be considered out-of-network beginning January 1, 2026. Regence members may face higher costs if they get services from Kootenai Health.

Kootenai Health says it’s still working to agree on an equitable contract between the two entities. KH says people with concerns should reach out to Regence directly at 1-888-675-6570.
