PULLMAN, Wash. — Washington State Patrol will be conducting emphasis patrols later this month as Washington State University students travel across the state for Thanksgiving break.
Emphasis patrols will start on Nov. 20 and run through Nov. 30.
Troopers in Spokane, Whitman, Adams, Grant and Kittitas counties will be focusing on speeding, distracted or impaired driving and other collision-causing violations during that time.
Drivers will see an increased law enforcement presence on State Route 26 and State Route 195, as well as I-90 over Snoqualmie Pass, during the emphasis patrol.
WSU students traveling across the state during that time should make sure to prepare their car for winter travel conditions. Make sure you have a small emergency kit with water, food, blankets, winter clothing and emergency flares in your car just in case. It’s also a good idea to make sure all the fluids in your vehicle are full and the battery is in good working order.
“We appreciate everyone’s help and diligence to ensure that we have a safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving this year,” said WSP District 4 Commander Captain Jeff Otis.
