SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — Fire crews from the Spokane Valley and Spokane fire departments contained a house fire to the attic Friday morning with no injuries reported, according to the Spokane Valley Fire Department.
At approximately 10:35 a.m., fire officials began receiving multiple calls reporting flames and smoke on the roof of a home near the intersection of South Coleman Road and East 9th Avenue.
According to SVFD, upon arrival, crews deployed hose lines and attacked the attic fire, completing a primary search within 10 minutes.
Two dogs found inside were moved to an unaffected laundry room.
The fire was knocked down by 10:58 a.m.
SVFD said a neighbor is caring for the dogs while officials work to contact the homeowner, according to the fire department.
The Red Cross was notified, but fire officials had not reached the homeowner as of Friday afternoon.
Investigators determined the fire was caused by an electrical wiring malfunction, according to the department.
A damage assessment has not been completed.
