SPOKANE, Wash. β The Spokane Police Department will receive $186,250 in federal funding for mental health and wellness services for officers and their families, according to the department.
The U.S. Department of Justice awarded the grant through the Law Enforcement Mental Health and Wellness Act program, the department said.
The funding will support Struggle Well classes and training on nutrition, sleep, stress reduction, mindfulness and financial wellness, according to the police department.
βIn order to take care of our community, our officers must also take care of themselves. The Spokane Police Department is grateful for this grant, which will allow us to invest in the wellness and mental health of the officers who serve our community every day,β Police Chief Kevin Hall said.
