SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — Deputies arrested a man for stealing a car in Spokane’s Hillyard neighborhood last week, according to Spokane Valley Police Department.
On October 22, SVPD deputies received a report that there had been an Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) alert for a stolen car near Sprague Avenue and Carnahan Road.
Deputies soon found the 2007 black Infiniti driving west on Sprague near Custer Road and pulled it over.
The driver, 22-year-old Loyne Willy, said he had bought the car from a man named ‘Jay’ for $500, but was unable to provide any proof.
Upon further investigation, deputies determined the Infiniti had been stolen the day before near Dalke Avenue and Florida Street in the Hillyard neighborhood.
The owner who reported it stolen said he had lost the key fob.
Willy later admitted to deputies that he found the key fob and did not have permission to take the car.
Willy was arrested and booked into Spokane County Jail on second-degree car theft, as well as a previous vehicle prowling charge.
