CUSICK, Wash. — A major lighting upgrade at a tribal wellness center will save enough electricity to power 25 homes annually after the Kalispel Tribe of Indians received a $34,324 energy efficiency rebate from Public Utility District No. 1 of Pend Oreille County.
The improvements at the Camas Center for Community Wellness will save more than 305,457 kilowatt-hours annually while improving lighting quality and reducing maintenance costs, according to the district.
The tribe completed the project through the PUD’s Energy Efficiency Incentive Program, which operates in partnership with the Bonneville Power Administration.
“Energy-saving projects like this strengthen our communities by reducing energy demand, lowering costs, and supporting a sustainable future for everyone who lives and works here,” said Amber Gifford, conservation and grants manager at the PUD.
