SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. — It’s almost time to start checking your mailbox for your November ballot!
The Spokane County Elections Office will begin mailing over 400,000 General Election ballots on Wednesday, October 15, ahead of the November 4 election.
Due to a recent change at USPS, many post offices have shifted to a once-a-day mail pickup schedule at the post office.
To be counted, a ballot must be postmarked by Election Day (November 4). To ensure your ballot is postmarked and received in time, Spokane County Auditor Vicky Dalton suggests ballots be mailed well before Election Day.
“While Washington State law allows ballots to be counted if they are postmarked by Election Day, delays in postmarking could result in ballots being rejected,” said Dalton. “To avoid any risk of your ballot being rejected due to a late postmark, we strongly recommend voters using USPS to mail their ballots by Tuesday, October 28. If dropping off your ballot at the Post Office on Election Day, be sure to do so before closing and take it to the counter to be postmarked,” she added.
Voters can also use one of the official Spokane County ballot drop boxes, which are open until 8 p.m. on Election Day. Click HERE for a full list of ballot drop box locations.
