GRANT COUNTY — A Grant County Sheriff’s Office employee has been placed on administrative leave following an off-duty domestic violence incident, according to the agency.
The incident occurred in Soap Lake, prompting the Soap Lake Police Department to handle the criminal investigation due to the conflict of interest, the sheriff’s office said.
“The Grant County Sheriff’s Office is aware of a domestic violence incident involving an off-duty member of our agency,” the agency said in a statement. “The matter is being taken seriously and will be handled consistently with the law and agency policy.”
The sheriff’s office said it “does not tolerate domestic violence and remains committed to accountability and public trust.”
Clear Risk Solutions will conduct an internal investigation after the police investigation concludes to determine whether any agency policies were violated, according to the sheriff’s office.
“We understand the gravity of domestic violence and recognize the importance of believing and protecting victims—especially when law enforcement is involved,” the agency said.
The sheriff’s office did not release the employee’s name or specific details about the incident. No charges have been announced.
