SPOKANE, Wash. – At long last, Tyon Grant-Foster can join the Zags, at least in the practice gym.
The 25-year-old committed to Gonzaga men’s basketball back in late May, but he’s awaited a decision on the NCAA to issue him a waiver to play this season.
Grant-Foster played two seasons in junior college, the COVID year at Kansas, then started the 2021-22 season at DePaul, before a cardiac event halted his season only half a game in. He then missed the rest of that year and all of 2022-23 before playing the past two seasons at Grand Canyon, winning WAC Player of the Year in 2023-24.
The Kansas City native still does not have his competitive waiver approved, and for now can only practice, not play in live games once the season begins November 3.
Grant-Foster can be approved or denied at any time preseason or during the year.
