PULLMAN, Wash. — A vehicle initially sought in connection with a weekend shooting in Pullman is no longer of interest to investigators after it was determined to be a rental car that has been returned to a business in SeaTac.
Police had initially sought information about a grey 2025 Hyundai Sonata with Minnesota license plates they believed was used by the suspect to leave the scene of Sunday morning’s shooting.
Police continue searching for 20-year-old Jakori C. Buchanan, who they believe was involved in the shooting that wounded a 19-year-old in north Pullman.
The Pullman Police Department responded around 1:45 a.m. on September 21 near Pullman Albion Road and Cottonwood Lane, where officers found the victim with a gunshot wound to his abdomen.
The victim was transported to a hospital where he remains in stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery.
Authorities warn that Buchanan should be considered armed and dangerous. He is described as a Black male, 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing 143 pounds. He was last seen wearing a white shirt, blue jeans and white shoes.
Police believe Buchanan may have traveled to Seattle with other people. The shooting appears to have been an isolated incident with no known threat to the general public.
As of Monday, police have not located Buchanan.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Pullman Police Department at 509-332-2521.
