SAN JOSE, Calif. – The Idaho Vandals (2-2) fell 31-28 to the San Jose State Spartans (1-2), only trailing for the final eight seconds.
Denis Lynch’s 48-yard field goal sailed through the uprights, earning SJSU their first win of the season and dropping Idaho to .500.
The Vandals converted half of their third downs, but they converted a remarkable 5/5 on fourth down, earning 22 first downs.
Idaho’s downfall was their penalties, erasing a much cleaner home performance last week with nine penalties for over 60 yards today.
Idaho now begins Big Sky play as they travel to the Montana Grizzlies next Saturday at 7:15 p.m.
