Washington health officials want to make sure you have the knowledge you need to keep your family safe when it comes to keeping medication in your home.
Washington Poison Center and Forefront Suicide Prevention will partner to host a free virtual webinar on creating medication-safe homes on September 25 from 12-1 p.m.
The session, presented by Alex Sirotzki, MPH, and Dr. Jimmy Leonard, PharmD, DABAT, aims to teach participants how to reduce suicide and overdose risks through proper medication storage and disposal practices.
According to the Washington Poison Center, medications rank among the most common and lethal methods of self-harm, but many tragedies can be prevented through safer home environments.
The webinar will cover practical steps for creating medication-safe homes, insights from Washington Poison Center helpline data and statewide trends, and guidance on when to seek emergency help.
The session is meant for parents, caregivers, educators and health professionals who want actionable strategies to protect loved ones of all ages.
