PULLMAN, Wash. – The Idaho Vandals were so close to an upset, their first over Washington State since 2000.
Turnovers and penalties did the Vandals in, despite outgaining WSU in total yards and holding the Cougs to a frighteningly low three rushing yards.
Not only that, but the Vandal D held Wazzu to 3-12 on third down and forced a critical turnover late in the fourth quarter that allowed Idaho to tie the game at 10.
On offense, starting quarterback Joshua Wood rushed 12 times for 102 yards. He flexed his legs much more than his arm, as Idaho only gained 33 net passing yards.
Idaho, only eight miles from their home campus in Moscow, returns to the Kibbie Dome across the next two weeks.
“We don’t lose in the dome,” Ford said postgame.
Idaho’s kickoff against St. Thomas is next Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
