MOSCOW, Idaho – Families of two University of Idaho students murdered in 2022 will argue in court Thursday to keep graphic images of their children from being released.
Karen Laramie, mother of Madison Mogen, filed in court to stop the release of body camera footage and other images that would show her daughter’s body and other personal items and information.
Stacy Chapin filed a declaration in support, along with her daughter Maizie Chapin. Stacy’s son and Maizie’s brother Ethan Chapin was also killed in the attack.
Moscow Police has released some body camera footage from the minutes and hours after the attack, but the bedrooms were blacked out.
Idaho State Police has also released images of the crime scene, some of which show blood spatter and bloody bedding.
Laramie’s attorney told 4 News Now the family thought they could start to get some relief after Bryan Kohberger pleaded guilty to the crime. She’s suffered emotional trauma, concerned about images of her daughter possibly being released.
A judge previously put a temporary restraining order in place, blocking the images of Mogen’s bedroom.
On Thursday, the judge will hear arguments about leaving the order in place.
That hearing is at 10 a.m. in Moscow. It will be streamed live on YouTube and carried on KXLY+ and kxly.com
