CHENEY, Wash. – The Eastern Washington Eagles embark on their 2025 campaign starting this Saturday, and head coach Aaron Best says his guys are all ready to go, despite the high intensity Incarnate Word will have after dropping their opening game last weekend.
“They’ll be fired up, they’ll be angrier than they would’ve been probably with a win, which doesn’t bode well for us at all,” coach Best said. “But we’re playing at their spot in San Antonio, weather is warm, at night, so they get a lot of things going for them, and we’ll find out kinda who we start out and intend to become come six o’clock Saturday.”
Coach Best also talked about the team’s energy ahead of the first game of the season, stressing the importance of making that energy consistent over the course of the season.
“There’s still a lot of teams in this country that are undefeated, so the energy’s going to be palpable, it’s going to be tangible, it’s going to be evident,” Best said. “To me, how much energy you have now, as opposed to, no matter what the record is, oppose to late-October, early-November, how close can we be to the energy we have now?”
EWU kicks off at Incarnate Word at 4:00 p.m. PST in San Antonio, Texas this Saturday.
