SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. — Washington’s Attorney General’s Office has launched a mental health hotline designed to support young people across the state, with a particular focus on underserved rural communities in Eastern Washington.
The “Hear Me WA” hotline serves anyone 25 and younger who needs help dealing with stress, anxiety, eating disorders and abuse. The program is meant to help bridge gaps in mental health services, especially in areas with limited resources.
“Often, young people who are in particularly vulnerable populations, LGBTQ, undocumented, those are people that are being targeted for various reasons right now, and we want to make sure that we fill any gaps that we can,” said Attorney General Nick Brown.
The hotline has established partnerships with multiple school districts across Washington state, including Central Valley.
During its first year of operation, the hotline received approximately 160 calls from young people seeking support. The Attorney General’s Office has prioritized spreading awareness about the program throughout Spokane County, where mental health resources often lag behind those available in other parts of the state.
You can call the hotline at 888-537-1634. For more information, visit www.hearmewa.org.
