SPOKANE, Wash. — A local college received over $100,000 in state funds to support a program focused on artificial intelligence (AI).
Spokane Falls Community College is one of nine Washington colleges to be awarded funding by the Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges.
The High Demand Enrollment Fund supports programs that train students in high demand fields that lead to employment.
SFCC received $151,762 for its Artificial Intelligence (AI) program. Other schools received funding for programs focused on fields such as behavioral health, the automotive industry, healthcare, pharmacy and cybersecurity.
“We’re grateful for the Legislature’s investments. These programs help students prepare for in-demand and living-wage careers with industries that are looking to hire,” said William Belden, who coordinates the application and award process for the State Board. “It all contributes to stronger families and communities.”
Program recipients have until June 2026 to use the funds.
