PULLMAN, Wash. – “I’m not going to feel bad for a team that has a lot of work to do.”
You just have to talk to WSU head coach Jimmy Rogers for a few minutes before you realize what he’s all about.
He’s up-front. He’s driven. He’s competitive. And he’s not afraid of hard-work.
Those values are already instilled in his new roster and the football program he inherited at Washington State.
“He says like ‘nobody is going to feel sorry for you’ or stuff like that,” said linebacker Keith Brown. “It’s true. Other teams don’t care how hot it is or how tired we are.”
It didn’t matter that it was about 95 degrees for the second practice of the afternoon, Coach Rogers didn’t want any excuses. He wanted the same amount of effort for the first day of fall camp that you’d give if you were starting on gameday.
“For us, it’s so important to come out here and not miss a beat. They got 20 reps. If they are going to play a full game, they are going to take more than 20 reps.”
The Cougs continue through their fall camp schedule leading up until the first day of classes. They’ll resume their normal weekly practice schedule leading up to their first game of the season at home against the Idaho Vandals on August 30th.
