STEVENS COUNTY, Wash. — You’re likely to see a lot more smoke near the Lake Spokane wildfire Thursday.
Firefighters are planning to conduct a controlled burn of about 130 acres which will send more smoke into the air.
According to Stevens County Fire District 1, the burn will remove currently unburned fuel from between the fire and fire lines on rugged terrain.
Stevens County Fire says this burn will create safer control options for crews.
The burn will not go ahead if weather isn’t favorable. The burn is planned to begin between 8-9 a.m.
According to InciWeb, the Lake Spokane wildfire has burned approximately 2,400 acres and is 16% contained.
