STEVENS COUNTY, Wash. — Fire crews continue to gain control of the over 2,000-acre wildfire burning near Tumtum.
As of Monday evening, the Lake Spokane Fire has grown to 2,338 acres, or over 3.5 square miles and is 16% contained.
According to Stevens County Emergency Management, all Level 3 (GO NOW) evacuations were lifted on Monday afternoon. As of Monday evening, everything north/northeast of Lael Road past Pepoon Lake is set at Level 2 (GET SET) and everything south of Lael Road is set at Level 1 (BE READY).
Cooler temperatures, higher humidity and lighter winds on Monday contributed to lower fire activity and allowed crews to make good progress on the firelines.
Crews will continue to work through the night to improve the firelines and increase containment.
