STEVENS COUNTY, Wash. — Firefighters are gaining containment on a growing wildfire in Stevens County.
According to incident command, the Hope Fire burning north of Kettle Falls has burned more than 10 square miles, or 7,100 acres and is 8% contained.
On Monday, firefighters say they will be looking for opportunities to construct control lines where the fire has grown and connect those to existing lines.
Stevens County Emergency Management says it will be reviewing evacuation levels with incident command today.
The Red Cross Evacuation Center at Kettle Falls Middle School will be open on an on-call basis. Animals can be evacuated to the Northeast Washington Fairgrounds.
