SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane Chiefs used their two CHL Import Draft picks on German players, Linus Vieillard and Elius Pul.
Vieillard, a Berlin native, is a goalkeeper who has spent his entire career in his home country. The 19-year-old averaged just over two goals allowed per game this past season for Eisbären Juniors Berlin U20.
He started for Team Germany in the World Junior Championships, logging a .915 save percentage in three games.
Pul played most of his youth career in Austria, but the forward is now back in Germany for EFC Ingolstadt. Last season, he scored 16 points for Blue Devils Weiden, plus a pair of assists in their playoff run.
The Chiefs’ third international spot is filled by the Kazakh, Assanali Sarkenov, who is expected to return next season to Spokane.
