SPOKANE, Wash. — A grocery store near Gonzaga University was briefly evacuated Tuesday when someone told police they found what looked like an explosive device and brought it to the store.
Police cleared the store and parking lot at the Safeway on Mission and Hamilton before 10 a.m. and brought in the bomb squad to investigate the device.
Once the device was deemed not to be a threat to the public, the parking lot was reopened.
Police said bomb experts were still trying to determine whether the device was actually explosive, but could confirm the device was built to look like it was explosive.
