SAN MARCOS, Tex. – Through a unanimous vote from the Board of Directors, Texas State is officially the eighth full member of the Pac-12 conference starting in the 2026-27 season.
Texas State’s addition means the Pac-12 now has the eight members it needs to be officially part of the FBS in 2026, and the whole conference includes the ninth, Gonzaga, for basketball only.
The Bobcats immediately boast the largest enrollment of the conference, and the only school over 40,000 students.
Their football team went 8-5 last season with a bowl win, their second in the last three seasons.
Basketball is not a strength for Texas State, their men’s team with zero NCAA Tournament appearances since 1997, and the women’s side only two trips dancing ever, last in 2003.
