Coeur d’Alene, Idaho— The grandfather of the gunman who killed two firefighters in Coeur d’Alene told 4 News Now he had no idea his grandson was capable of this.
The shooter was identified as Wess Roley, according to ABC News and the Associated Press.
His grandfather, Dale Roley, spoke with 4 News Now over the phone Monday morning. He said he had no idea his grandson, Wess Roley, would do something like this.
He said Wess was living in Coeur d’Alene and working for a tree company and trying to get into forestry. He said he hiked in the Canfield Mountain area often.
Dale Roley said he has not heard from Wess’s dad and asked the sheriff’s office to do a wellness check on him and his wife.
