SPOKANE, WA — The Spokane Transit Authority Board of Directors has selected Interim Co-CEO Karl Otterstrom as the sole finalist to become the agency’s next permanent chief executive officer.
According to the preBoard members voted Thursday to advance Otterstrom in the search process to replace E. Susan Meyer, who retired in December 2024.
The decision follows a recommendation from the STA CEO Search Task Force, which chose to move forward with only one finalist rather than the originally planned one to three candidates.
Otterstrom will face community stakeholder forums next month, where residents can meet him and provide feedback to executive recruiting firm KL2 Connects. Employee forums and additional board interviews will occur before the board makes its final selection.
Spokane Transit serves multiple jurisdictions including Spokane, Spokane Valley, and surrounding communities. The agency operates bus service, paratransit, and rideshare programs with nearly 775 employees.
