SPOKANE, Wash. — Two Spokane police officers who shot and killed a man during an arson investigation will not face charges.
The Spokane County Prosecutor determined Officers Brandon Roy and Andrew Willis were justified in the death of 38-year-old Alan Jenks in March of last year.
On March 31, 2024, police responded to a home on Dean Avenue near Oak Street for a house fire.
Jenks was one of the people seen leaving the scene as SPD tried to contact him. It was determined Jenks fired two shots during the interaction before Roy and Willis shot and killed him. A handgun was found on Jenks.
Another individual was arrested for the arson.
According to prosecutor’s office, Jenk had an active felony warrant for escaping from community custody related to a previous robbery conviction.
A toxicology report found Jenks had amphetamine, fentanyl, norfentanyl, methamphetamine, and cannabinoids in his system at the time of his death.
