SPOKANE VALLEY — A driver who fled a routine traffic stop was arrested early Friday after deputies used spike strips and a PIT maneuver to end a pursuit through Spokane Valley.
Christopher M. Frazier, 35, was taken into custody following the incident that began just after midnight on June 20, 2025.
According to Spokane Valley Sheriff’s Office (SCSO), Frazier was stopped for driving 38 mph in a 25 mph zone, having no license plate, and a defective taillight. When the sergeant activated emergency lights, Frazier accelerated to 50 mph and fled, zigzagging through neighborhood streets at excessive speeds.
The Air 1 helicopter crew provided aerial surveillance as Frazier drove recklessly with his headlights off, making erratic maneuvers including a 360-degree spin. Deputies deployed spike strips at Trent and Havana Street, deflating the truck’s tires.
According to SCSO, Frazier drove into the Spokane Interstate Fairgrounds parking lot, where deputies executed a PIT maneuver. He jumped from the truck and attempted to flee on foot but tripped and was arrested.
Deputies obtained a search warrant for a blood sample after developing probable cause for DUI. Frazier’s license was suspended, and he had two previous DUI convictions within 10 years.
Frazier was booked on charges of attempting to elude law enforcement, DUI, and driving while suspended. His bond was set at $20,000.
