SPOKANE, Wash – The bridge that will carry pedestrians and cyclists across the Spokane River near Spokane Community college is now in place.
It took Kuney Construction two cranes and just 30 minutes to place the 300,000-pound steel structure, which runs parallel to the North South Corridor.
Washington Department of Transportation says the community chose the truss design for the bridge, which was fabricated at Northwest Steel Fab in Deer Park.
The bridge is 212 feet long across the Spokane River and 16 feet wide for bikes and pedestrians.
The Children of the Sun Trail stretches from the Wandermere Area to this location where it connects with the Centennial Trail.
You can read more about the trail and progress on connecting each stretch on this page.
