COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — A woman died Sunday morning after sustaining injuries in a house fire near 15th and Elderberry Circle, according to Coeur d’Alene Fire.
Fire crews from both Coeur d’Alene Fire and Kootenai Fire responded to the residential fire Sunday morning, officials said. After firefighters extinguished the flames, they located the victim inside the home.
Emergency responders transported the woman to Kootenai Health, where she died from injuries sustained in the fire, according to Coeur d’Alene Fire.
The woman’s identity has not been released at this time.
CDA Fire Department said a small dog ran out of the home while crews worked to put out the fire. The dog returned home and was given over to Animal Control until family can be contacted to care for the dog.
Investigators said the fire’s cause is believed to have been accidental.
