SPOKANE, Wash. – For the first time since clinching the Northwest League title last fall, the Spokane Indians win a game in a rare “balk-off”, in which the opposing pitcher balks with the bases loaded.
A balk is when a pitcher makes an illegal pitching motion to fool baserunners, and this disastrously lost the game for Hillsboro, completing a three-run Indians comeback in the bottom of the ninth.
Charlie Condon, Aidan Longwell and Braylen Wimmer combined for nine hits, seven runs and two RBIs, plus four doubles.
Spokane’s win splits the series at three games a-piece and is two wins in a row.
The Indians now take a six-game road trip to the Vancouver Canadians starting Tuesday at 7:05 p.m.
