SPOKANE, Wash. — The Boulevard Race returns Sunday with 4,000 runners and walkers expected in downtown Spokane’s University District.
The 4-mile race begins at 10 a.m. on Sept. 21 and benefits Community Cancer Fund, which supports local cancer patients. Registration costs $30 and continues through Saturday at www.boulevardrace.com.
“We love our course in Spokane’s University District,” said Jon Neill, Boulevard Race Director. “It is an unforgettable experience for the best cause.”
The 2025 race features 16 entertainment zones, including the foam zone, scream tunnels, and cowbell orchestra. New additions include flamingo decorations, bubble zones, and Mardi Gras-style beads.
Fourteen local DJs will provide music along the course, plus bagpipes, the Ferris High School Marching Band, and cheer squads from four local high schools. Course improvements convert “The Hill” into a downhill section.
Other highlights include a vintage 1980s Winnebago boom box and WSU CRIMZONE featuring Cougar Gold cheese prizes.
Race entry costs $30 and includes a $30 Rosauers grocery coupon and t-shirt from The Great PNW. Post-race festivities feature a beer garden and food court.
The Boulevard Race benefits the Community Cancer Fund, a Spokane nonprofit supporting local cancer patients. Organizers anticipate 5,000 participants in 2025, up from 3,000 in 2024.
“Our goal this year was to introduce more energy, fun, and course entertainment, so that when you are done running or walking our race you will ask to do it again,” Neill said.
