SPOKANE, Wash. — As the 90-day pause on steep tariffs approaches its end next month, 4 News Now has been tracking price changes on four common household items: a pineapple from Mexico, a Barbie doll from Indonesia, a t-shirt from Jordan, and a car headlight bulb from China.
This tariff pause, which affects over 100 countries, temporarily set a flat 10% tariff for most nations, except China, which continues to face higher rates.
Since April, prices for these items have mostly remained steady.

The pineapple saw a 50-cent increase in May compared to April, while the car headlight bulb has held firm at $8.72 for both our May and June check-in.
The Walmart t-shirt has also stayed consistent at $6.98 since the initial check-in.
However, the Barbie doll experienced a notable price jump of nearly $2 since our May check-in.
Costing now $12.94 that’s up from $10.97 in May.
Experts caution that while tariffs can influence prices, other factors such as seasonal agricultural shifts and supply chain fluctuations also play significant roles.
With the tariff pause ending soon, consumers may see prices rise as retailers begin stocking goods that include the tariff costs.
On June 6, prices on various items included:
1 Gold Pineapple at the grocery store (grown in Mexico) – $5.491 Barbie Doll at Walmart (made in Indonesia) – $12.941 plain white t-shirt at Walmart (made in Jordan) – $6.98 1 car light bulb at local auto store (made in China) – $7.99
4 News Now will continue to monitor these costs to see if and how the tariffs affect our local goods.
