KOOTENAI COUNTY, Idaho — A man with a history of criminal convictions has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for drug-related crimes in Kootenai County.
According to the Kootenai County Prosecutor’s Office, 31-year-old Donovan James Erickson was convicted of possession of cocaine with intent to deliver and resisting officers.
In December of 2024, law enforcement pulled over a car. Erickson, who was a passenger in the car, was not wearing his seatbelt and would not identify himself to law enforcement.
Officers learned Erickson’s name and that there was an active warrant for his arrest.
While searching Erickson, officers found cocaine, methamphetamine, ecstasy, a scale with empty baggies and a handgun.
The prosecutor’s office says Erickson’s criminal history includes past convictions of theft, criminal mischief, criminal conspiracy, assault and violating his probation.
At the time of his arrest, Erickson also had a pending assault and unlawful use of a deadly weapon case out of Oregon.
Erickson was sentenced on June 2 to 10 years in prison with parole eligibility after three years and credit for time served for resisting officers.
