WENATCHEE, Wash. — The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office said it believes it is getting closer to finding the father accused of kidnapping and murdering his three young daughters.
On Wednesday, CCSO held a press conference to give an update on the search for 32-year-old Travis Decker, who allegedly murdered his three daughters, nine-year-old Paityn, eight-year-old Evelyn and five-year-old Olivia, and left them in the woods near Leavenworth.
CCSO said during the press conference Decker, who is former military, has extensive survival skills and would often go two to three months in the wilderness.
The Sheriff’s Office said it expects to capture him “shortly.”
“Some of the interviews that we’ve had regarding Travis, have made a determination on maybe what his thought process was, what decisions he might’ve made, and where he’d gone, in addition to detectives also following through with some of the financial documents, tracking areas he previously frequented, and we’re optimistic that we will find him shortly,” said CCSO Sheriff Morrison.
Spokane County Sheriff’s Office is also assisting the search with two helicopters.
A GoFundMe account to support the girls’ mother Whitney has raised more than $500,000 as of Wednesday afternoon.
