GRANT COUNTY, Wash. — A camping and recreation site south of Quincy is closed on Sunday as fire crews finishing putting out a 200-acre wildfire, according to Grant County Sheriff’s Office.
Around midnight on June 1, fire crews responded to a 100-acre fire burning on sage brush and grass near the Ancient Lakes Recreation Area, about 10 miles south of Quincy.
GCSO deputies alerted all campers to the fire and said some campers evacuated by choice.
Around 3 a.m., GCSO said crews had stopped the fire’s progression at about 200 acres.
As of Sunday afternoon, the recreation area is closed as firefighters continue to mop up hot spots within the containment lines.
