SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. – Spokane County now has its first year-round farmers market.
Scale House Market, located on 4422 East 8th Avenue, celebrated its official grand opening on Saturday, welcoming vendors and visitors alike.
The market houses lets farmers market vendors now sell their products all year instead of closing during winter months.
“It’s emotionally a dream come true, to be honest,” said Frankie Browning, founder of Browning Beef.
Winter used to mean fewer sales for vendors like Browning, but the year-round market gives businesses a chance to operate all twelve months.
“Just increases our sales and availability for us,” said Browning.
The market includes a learning kitchen where people can take classes using fresh, local ingredients. It hopes to give our community the opportunity to shop sustainably and healthy.
Ginny Webber and her husband Grant run Vets on Farms on the South Hill. They will sell their produce at the Scale House Market.
“It’s the opportunity of a lifetime, this is what Spokane needed,” Webber said. “It will help us along with other vendors get our names out and let people know who we are and what we do, it’s a gift.”
The Scale House Market expects close to 250,000 visitors each year.
“The outpouring has been incredible, people are talking about how far they had to work to get here, but they’re still showing up,” Browning said.
The market operates Wednesday through Sunday in Spokane Valley. You can find more information on the market by clicking here.
