PULLMAN, Wash. — It can be annoying, but cottonwood fluff should be properly disposed of and not lit on fire.
The Pullman Fire Department is issuing a warning urging people to not burn the fluff away.
PFD says it responds to several fires started from cottonwood fluff every year which can spread to nearby structures. The College Hill neighborhood is particularly at risk.
The department says people can do their part to stay safe by wetting down the fluff, raking it up, and throwing it away safely.
