SPOKANE, Wash. — Now that it’s warming up, construction season is in full swing across Spokane and the Inland Northwest, leaving drivers to navigate between orange cones and road closures.
A number of projects are planned in downtown Spokane, Spokane County and Spokane Valley through the end of the summer.
Construction will include grind and overlay, water main repairs, ADA compliance efforts and more.
Drivers will want to plan ahead, leave extra time for commutes and practice patience to get to their destinations timely and safely.

Starting May
Washington/Stevens Corridor between Spokane Falls Blvd and 4th Avenue- curb ramp improvements, grind and overlay and new striping. Paving will be done at night. The project is expected to last through July.
Starting June
Wellesley Avenue between N. Maple Street and N. Division Street – pavement repairs and ADA ramp installation. The project is expected to last through early September. Freya Street between 21st Street and 13th Avenue – Large section closed for water main replacement. The project is expected to last through mid-August.
Starting July
W. Francis Avenue/Highway 291, between N. Assembly St & Rifle Club Rd. – water system improvement project. The project is expected to last through the end of construction season. E. Sprague Avenue and Alki-Broadway Avenue – grind and overlay, ADA ramp upgrades, stormwater projects, pavement repairs and street safety improvements. The Project is expected to last through September.
No Specified Start Date:
Sprague Avenue from Bowdish Road to McDonald Road in Spokane Valley – general construction with expected lane closures and detours
Maple/Walnut Street between 4th Avenue and Maple Street Bridge – Pavement rehabilitation, ADA curb upgrades, signal improvements, storm sewer repairs and sidewalk widening on Maple south of 3rd Avenue. Most closures will be done overnight.
E. Mission Avenue and North Magnolia Street – pedestrian safety improvements around Stevens Elementary with new crosswalks, sidewalks and signal upgrades
