SPOKANE, Wash. — The process to fill a vacant seat on the Spokane City Council is underway.
On Monday, Spokane County District 2 Councilmember Lili Navarrete announced her resignation effective July 1. Now the city council will select her replacement until the November election when the new replacement is voted on.
The application period for opened Friday, May 23 and the applications are available on the city’s website and at city hall.
The deadline to apply for the position is June 20 at 5 p.m.
The city council will then interview applicants Thursday, July 10 during a public city council meeting.
Public testimony on the candidates will be Monday, July 14 during the regularly scheduled city council meeting.
The city council will then vote and appoint the replacement on July 28.
