SPOKANE, Wash. — If you’re flying out of Spokane for Memorial Day Weekend, you might want to give yourself extra time at the airport.
According to Spokane International Airport (GEG), departing seats are up nearly 18% from last year.
The airport also said it’s expecting this summer to be the busiest travel season in its history. Between June and July, GEG estimates more than 8,500 airline seats are scheduled to depart the airport daily.
“GEG is now recognized as one of the busiest small-hub airports in the nation, thanks in part to airlines’ continued investment in the Spokane region,” said Frank Miller, Interim Spokane Airports CEO. “This increased capacity means Inland Northwest travelers have more great options to access their favorite destinations, but it also means a significant increase in passengers going through checkpoints during peak travel times, which is why we continue to encourage passengers to arrive early.”
GEG said it expects over 4,000 travelers to make their way through the airport everyday between 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
To keep your travel as smooth as possible, GEG said it’s important to arrive to the airport at least two hours earlier than your boarding time and make sure you have the proper identification, in line with the recent REAL ID requirements.
